Finding Peace Through Photography
By Mark Person
Everyone has a story to tell and this book is my story. The photographs in Finding Peace Through Photography are a collection of spiritual images that I feel drawn to share with the world. They convey my experiences growing up in Georgia and my journey to Wyoming,Cape Cod, NYC and Boston, each reflecting how I felt at a certain time in my life. Capturing and compiling these images helped me begin to feel whole again after a traumatic time in my life. Perhaps your viewing them will bring healing and a sense of peace to you, as well.
From the Foreword:
Photography saved my life—or, at least, brought me back among the living. In 2010, I was in the midst of losing everything that modern society perceives as valuable: my home, my business and all of my money. After making some decisions that led to the demise of my successful sports and corporate careers, my marriage had ended, as well. It felt like I was on a fast moving freight train that I was powerless to stop. I didn’t know which direction to turn. My family and close friends encouraged me to have faith and trust God.
Since that time, I’ve vowed to continually keep my aperture open to higher inspiration, to serve as best I can as a vessel, with Spirit and the wisdom of my ancestors moving through me. That defining moment was all about coming back to what’s real, living with integrity and humility in the foreground and, simultaneously, believing in myself as a man and an artist. I’m so grateful that I lost everything so that I could find this new wondrous life.
It is my wish that you will take away from these pages a sense of calm and inner peace, as well as the wisdom to know that anything and everything is possible in your life, no matter what your age, race, class or background. Believe in yourself and your dreams, and never doubt that a new dawn can and does break miraculous every day.
